Indian folk music: An Introduction

While people are very interested and have some or a lot of knowledge about Indian classical music such as ragas, many other semi-classical genres such as thumri, ghazal, bhajan and folk music get missed out on. I would like to give some knowledge on one of the many semi-classical musical genres in India, i.e. Indian folk music. There are several folk music traditions within India. I would like to do this workshop via an audio-visual compilation on the themes, musical styles and influences that guide the Indian folk music across this big piece of land and we can do a short Indian folk song learning towards the end of the workshop, if time allows.
