Accommodation

Hotels / hostels

Vienna's hotel / hostel prices are what you would expect of a typical Central European city. Not super expensive, but also not so cheap. Here's an overview: https://www.hotels-in-vienna.net/en/

Here are two hostels we want to recommend, both affordable and quite close to many of the Folk Marathon venues:

Communal Sleeping?

We're not yet 100% sure we can offer communal sleeping for this edition folk marathon, but we're working on it. If you want to be on the safe side (and enjoy significantly more comfort, like showers without waiting time, a proper bed, more infrastructure and less people in a room), we recommend you to book a hostel bed. As of now (end of July), there should be plenty of free beds.

Floor Spaces

As in some earlier editions of Folk Marathon, we will ask around in the Vienna folk music / dance scenes for people who let participants stay in their private flats, for a small fee to cover infrastructure costs (heating, shower, fridge...). It's a great way to explore other aspects of Vienna, just like sofa surfing.

Air BnB and similar

Of course, that's another possibility: To share a flat offered via AirBnB. As Vienna is not as strongly suffering from overtourism as some other European capitals, this seems ethically OK, even though we want to mention the problematic sides of renting flats out to tourists, while there's some lack of affordable housing. This said, using services like AirBnB or similar companies now and then will not make the world a bad place. If you want to find partners to share a flat, please use our forum on ....
