Getting to Vienna
By Train
- Good international train connections. Book as early as possible!
By Car
- For ecological reasons, please get as many passengers as safely possible on board. For car sharing, please have a look at the forum!
- Be aware that there's a significant parking fee for non-residents in Vienna. But there are quite affordable places fo put your car. Have a look here for an overview: www.parkopedia.at
- Unless you decide to travel small roads, you will need an Austrian motorway sticker, which, for one week, is less then 10€ for a week and can be purchased directly at the borders.
- Austrian Motorways are OK. Speed maximum 130cph. For a quick coffee / free pee try the "Rastplatz" instead of the full blown motorway stations.
By Bus
- Flixbus-Connections from all over the place.
By Plane
- Vienna Airport is located about 20km to the South East.
- Train connections from the airport to Vienna and back are good. Avoid the overpriced "CAT" (City Airport Train) and go with the regular "Schnellbahn" (logo is a white "S" on blue background) – it only takes a few minutes longer and is much cheaper, in particular if you already have a city ticket.
Travelling inside Vienna
By Public Transport
- Public transport in Vienna is very good, almost all places can easily be reached that way.
- During night, there's also a reliable net of night buses, most of which will leave every half hour. Additionally, on week-ends, all the metros run for the whole night.
- Even though you will most probably not stay for a whole week, your best ticket option will probably be the 7 days ticket for 17€10 (paradoxically, the same price applies for the 72hours ticket).
By Foot
We will try to keep most distances rather short, so you may also walk. Most parts of Vienna are really safe. To get an idea of the distances between different locations, have a look at the locations map.
By Taxi
- After long partying, this might be another option, in particular when you're travelling as a group. Taxis are quite affordable in Vienna. Depending on travel distance and time of the day, you will have to pay something between 8€ (for a very short distance) and 25€ (through most of Vienna) for a ride. To get an idea, you can calculate it in advance. Uber and Bolt will normally be about the same price.
On a Bicycle
- Vienna is a quite cyclable city, but of course winter might make this a less attractive option.
- For short distances, the public rental WienMobil bikes might be an option. Otherwise, if you need a simple bike for all of the days, contact us, we might be able to assist you.
- Bicycles can be taken on board of a metro, free of charge, but not during peak times.
